On Monday, the Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Blessing Agbebaku, took decisive action by suspending three lawmakers amidst accusations of orchestrating a scheme to impeach him and other Principal Officers of the Council (POC) within the house.
The trio of suspended lawmakers includes Mr. Donald Okogbe representing PDP Akoko-Edo II, Bright Iyamu from PDP Orihonmwon South, and Adeh Isibor of PDP Esan North East I.
During the resumption of plenary on Monday, Agbebaku asserted that the three suspended members were purportedly under external influence, aiming to instigate turmoil and oust the house leadership.
He also alleged that some persons brought native doctors into the house at midnight on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, to make some demonic incantations and dropped charms in the assembly complex.
Responding during the rowdy session, the three suspended lawmakers were seen screaming “Mr speaker you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member (s) of the house.
” You must call for votes. Allow members to vote on the matter”, the victims screamed.
