In a significant cabinet reshuffle, President Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers as part of a broader effort to enhance the efficiency of his administration.
This decision comes after months of mounting pressure for a cabinet reorganization, reflecting the President’s responsiveness to public and political sentiments.
On Wednesday, the President announced the dismissal of the following ministers: Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism, Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
In addition to the dismissals, President Tinubu has re-assigned ten ministers to new portfolios, aiming to leverage their skills and experiences more effectively within the government framework.
The President has also put forth seven new ministerial appointments, which will require Senate confirmation. The specific individuals nominated for these positions have yet to be disclosed.
Among the key appointments is Shehu Dikko, who has been named Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
Furthermore, Sunday Akin Dare has been appointed as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation, operating from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
