In a distressing turn of events, Tina Ileogben, a baker, was found dead with her throat slit and her heart reportedly missing from her chest at her residence on Olowo Street, situated in the Alhaja Shifiwa area of Dopemu, Agege, Lagos State.

Upon arrival, the colleague discovered the door to Ileogben’s apartment ajar. Upon entering, they were met with the harrowing sight of her lifeless body lying on her bed.
A resident in the vicinity, identified only as Segun, recounted that the colleague immediately raised the alarm, drawing the attention of neighbors. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that Ileogben’s throat had been gruesomely slit, with her heart conspicuously absent from her chest.
“The incident has left the community in shock and confusion.People got to know what happened to Ileogben when her colleague came to her flat.
“Ileogben’s colleagues did not see her at work and one of her colleagues came to check her at home when they could not reach her on the phone. It was when the colleague got to her flat, met the door open and entered that he saw her lifeless remains on the bed.
“The person who perpetrated the crime slit her throat, put a hand into her neck to access her chest and removed her heart. People saw some of her intestines around her neck and a doctor who was also at the crime scene confirmed that her heart had been taken away.”Segun remarked, reflecting the somber mood that enveloped the area upon learning of the tragedy.
In a chilling account provided to our correspondent, Justina, the elder sister of Tina Ileogben, unveiled disturbing details surrounding her sister’s demise, alleging that she was subjected to sexual assault before being mercilessly killed, with her blood staining her apartment.
Justina’s voice trembled with emotion as she recounted the sequence of events, saying, “I received a call that shattered my world, informing me of my sister’s fall and the urgent need for my presence. Racing to her home, I was met with a crowd of concerned onlookers, foreshadowing the tragedy that awaited me.”
She continued, “Intuition whispered of impending doom as tears streamed down my face. Summoning every ounce of courage, I ventured into her flat, bracing myself for the grim truth.”
Upon entering, Justina was met with a scene of horror. “Blood stains marred every surface – the floor, the walls, her very bed,” she recalled with a heavy heart. “And upon laying eyes on her lifeless form, the truth became painfully clear. My sister had suffered a fate too cruel to comprehend. She had been violated in the most despicable manner, her throat viciously slit, her heart callously torn from her chest.”
Justina, in her plea for justice, implored the men of the state police command to track down and apprehend the suspect responsible for her sister’s death.
Responding to inquiries, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, affirmed the occurrence of the incident, specifying that officials from the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit had removed the deceased’s remains to the Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, for a thorough post-mortem examination.
He elaborated, stating, “A colleague of the deceased, one Akeem, along with her landlord, reported the incident at the Dopemu Division. Tina Ileogben, the deceased, failed to report for duty as expected. Concerned, her coworker, Akeem, was instructed by senior staff to conduct a welfare check, given her proximity to the workplace.”
“On arrival, Akeem discovered the door to her residence ajar. Upon entering, accompanied by two neighbors, they tragically found Tina’s lifeless body unclothed, lying in a pool of blood with her throat slashed. An investigation is underway. As for the alleged missing heart, our inquiries have found no evidence to support such claims,” SP Hundeyin clarified.
