The Nigerian government has condemned the tragic death of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, who was fatally stabbed in London.
The government’s response highlighted the surrender of the suspect, Marcus Arduini Monzo, to the police.
Daniel Anjorin was stabbed with a double-edged sword in an attack that took place in Hainault, North-East London, on Victory Day. He tragically passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), expressed condolences and emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring justice in this case. In a statement on Instagram, Dabiri-Erewa expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the 14-year-old, emphasizing the importance of a transparent investigation and accountability.
“Our hearts are broken over the loss of a 14-year-old boy in London. Justice must prevail, so that the memory of those who have left remains.”
Daniel attended Bancroft College, where he was acquainted with the suspect, Grace O’Malley-Kumar. The principal of Bancroft College mourned Daniel’s passing, highlighting his gentle nature and the lasting impact he had on the school community.
The Metropolitan Police provided details of the incident, stating that the suspect assaulted a 33-year-old man and a man armed with a bow, as well as injuring a 35-year-old man in a nearby residence. Two law enforcement officers were also injured during the confrontation. The suspect, aged 36, surrendered to the police after seeking medical treatment for his injuries.
Family and friends have offered condolences to Daniel’s parents in their time of grief.
