Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has firmly stated that he has no regrets for opposing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking on Tuesday, Wike defended his actions, citing the party’s departure from principles of fairness, equity, and justice.
The former governor of Rivers State clarified that while he supported the PDP at the state level, he could not back the party’s candidate for the presidency due to these concerns.
During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wike also distanced himself from the ousted Rivers State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), refuting claims that the former chairman was his political ally.
He said: “Tony Okocha, not my man. They fought me during the governorship election. He’s my friend does not mean I brought him to the APC.
“For the presidential election, I said I was going to support equity, fairness and justice and in the others, I will support my party. That was why we won the governorship, and National Assembly elections.
“For the presidential election, I have no apology for working against the PDP because I don’t believe in injustice and not allowing other people to participate. I said I won’t support injustice and have no apology to render to anybody.”
