Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, is to host the next West Africa Universities Games (WAUG) which is scheduled to start on Friday, the 16th December, 2023.
In a release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, the school said every machinery has been put in motion to face lift its sporting facilities.
This, according to the management, isto make sure that the WAUG is successful and hitch free.
EagleEyes reports that WAUG will have Universities from across West Africa sub region competing for medals in sports like Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball and Athletics.
“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will be the special guest of honour for the opening and the closing of the games.
“The grand finale will be on Friday, the 22nd of December, 2023”,the release added.
