AS Roma has officially parted ways with head coach Ivan Juric after a challenging 12-match stint, marked by inconsistent results in both domestic and European competitions.
Juric, previously the manager of Torino, took over the reins at Roma in mid-September following the departure of club icon Daniele De Rossi.
He initially raised hopes with two wins in his first three games. However, momentum quickly waned as Roma managed only two more victories in their subsequent nine matches, including Serie A and Europa League fixtures.
The club’s recent form underscored its struggles, with a 3-2 loss to Bologna at home on Sunday sealing Juric’s fate. This defeat extended Roma’s winless run to three games, following a 1-1 draw against Union SG in the Europa League and another 3-2 loss to Hellas Verona in the Italian league. Currently sitting 12th in Serie A, Roma finds itself a mere four points above the relegation zone and nine points shy of sixth-place Lazio.
Roma’s European campaign has also been disappointing, with the team in 20th place in the Europa League standings after securing just one victory in four games. They are now four points short of the top eight positions that would ensure progression to the knockout rounds.
In the wake of Sunday’s defeat, Roma promptly announced Juric’s departure, underscoring the urgency of their search for a new head coach.
“We would like to thank Ivan Juric for his dedication and professionalism in a challenging environment,” the club said in a statement.
“We are grateful for his efforts and wish him success in his future endeavors. The search for a new head coach has already begun.”
Juric’s exit marks the fourth managerial change at Roma in 2024, following José Mourinho’s departure in January.
