Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has advised the club to focus on acquiring winger Nico Williams from La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Williams’ impressive form has attracted interest from various Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham.
Arsenal, in particular, are eager to enhance their attacking options and view Williams as a potential addition to complement Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the wings.
Despite previous links to Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Arsenal appear hesitant due to the player’s high valuation, making Williams an appealing alternative.
While acknowledging the appeal of signing striker Ivan Toney, Petit emphasized the importance of prioritizing a forward to provide healthy competition for Martinelli and Saka within Arsenal’s youthful squad.
“Would Nico Williams be a good fit at Arsenal? Absolutely,” Petit stated in an interview with Betway.
“He’s been one of the best young players in Spain this season.”
